Dominic Zwemmer

Working mainly with charcoal, but also with soft pastel,Dominic enjoys combining his realistic drawing style with a sense of the abstract, in the form of dramatic landscapesand seascapes. By using as many different marks as possible, he aims to convey the atmosphere of a place, with the feeling of a lived experience. 

Drawing from an early age, Dominic went to Lincoln College of Art at 16, followed by an arts degree at Leicester Polytechnic, then had a long career as a graphic designer. After many years in the highly disciplined environment of book design, he has rekindled the passion that originally sent him to art school all those years ago. Dominic has frequently exhibited at the Rye Society of Artists’ Spring and Summer Shows, various Rye Art Gallery exhibitions and Coastal Currents’ Open Studios. His work was part ofthe Royal Academy’s 250th Summer Exhibition of 2018 and again in 2020. He sells his work both locally and internationally.
